My favorite ice-cream flavor is Lucuma. Lucuma is a Peruvian fruit the pre incan culture of Moche represented the fruit in their Huacos (ceramics). It’s green in the outside and yellow-orange in the inside (we Peruvians call Lucuma that color).
The pulp is dry and sweet (the more ripe the more sweet) and some people use it to make Lucuma flour. I love to eat the fruit or to blend it with milk, it’s delicious.
Here are some pictures of the outside of the fruit and the inside; It usually has one or two big seeds.
Mi helado favorito es el helado de Lúcuma. La Lúcuma es una fruta Peruana (la cultura preincaica Moche la representó en sus Huacos (cerámicas). El exterior es verde y el interior de un amarillo-anaranjado (los Peruanos llamamos a ese color Lúcuma).
La pulpa es seca y dulce (mientras más madura es más dulce) y algunas personas la usan para hacer Harina de Lúcuma. Me encanta comer la fruta o licuarla con leche, es deliciosa.
Acá muestro unas fotos del exterior y el interior de la fruta; usualmente tiene una o dos semillas grandes.

ReplyDeleteHola, La Lúcuma solo se produce en Sudamérica, mi mamá ha conseguido plantar semillas de Lúcuma (como la que se ve en la foto) y creció un arbolito pero aun no da fruto.
ReplyDeleteHi, Lucuma only grows in South America, my mother has planted a lucuma seed (like the one you see in the picture) and it has grown a tree, but no fruits yet.
